TPE member Jim McKinniss will have two images from his “Morning Ocean” project in a show at the Manhattan Beach Creative Arts Center. The show will feature the creative art work of local South Bay artists working in various media.
When asked about the work McKinniss said: “These two images are from a new project which seeks to capture the power and beauty of the ocean in the early morning. All of the images in the project are photograph based. Each photograph has been paired with a second photo creating a layered image which is then worked on in Photoshop to enhance the natural colors and textures that were captured in the original photos. The result of this work is an image of hues and textures which resembles a painting. ”
The juror for this show is Ruth Trotter who will also give a critique of the work on Saturday, May 21 between 2-4pm. A Professor of Art at the University of La Verne in Southern California since 1989, Trotter received her B.A. from Scripps College and her M.F.A. from Claremont Graduate University as a Millard Sheets Scholar in 1981.
