Late notice, yes, but if you can, get over to Bergamot Station today (Sunday, April 26th) and visit the Fresh Fair event. Located on Michigan Ave just outside the Bergamot Station gates, the event is free and hosts photographers from all over the world. Each individual photographer has a booth set up with their work. This is the first time Fresh Fair has been produced, and I am told will be a yearly event. We can all benefit by stopping in, lending support, and finding out how to show our work next year. A few of the photographers I found particularly interesting were Ryan Schude with his elaborately constructed, quirky narrative sets, Kristopher Gruntert’s night landscapes because they were presented in backlit lightboxes-the way most of us view images these days, and Tracy Woolley’s no tricks style panoramas of Australia’s landscapes. There are many more photographers that deserve mention, to be sure, so go and find your favorites.
